On Sunday 5 July 2026, the Greek Orthodox Community of Bristol came together for its annual Panegyris in celebration of our Patron Saints, the Apostles Peter and Paul.
The day began with the Matins and Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis. We were pleased to receive parishioners, friends and representatives from neighbouring Greek communities, together with guests from Bristol and London.
Among those attending were Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Peaches Golding, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Hellenic Embassy Mrs Ioanna Kriebardi, Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in London Mr Odysseas Odysseos, Lord Mayor Cllr Yassin Mohamud, PCC Clare Moody, Supt Deepak Kenth (on behalf of Chief Constable Sarah Crew), Archon George Michael, Treasurer of the Archdiocesan Central Fund. We were grateful for their presence and for that of all the other guests who joined us.
Following the service, those attending enjoyed performances by our schoolchildren, traditional Greek dancing, food prepared by members of the community and the hospitality for which our parish is known. The positive comments received from our visitors reflected the work that went into the occasion.
The Panegyris would not have been possible without the many volunteers who gave their time before, during and after the event. Committee members and parishioners worked side by side to prepare the church and grounds, organise the programme, welcome guests and ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Our thanks go to everyone who contributed and particularly to the event organising team for their commitment throughout the preparations. The gathering was a reminder of what can be achieved when our community works together in faith and fellowship.
May Saints Peter and Paul continue to guide and protect our community and may we share many more celebrations together in the years ahead.
